Madhav had been to the everglades and highly recommended going there. We set out early in the morning from Madhav's house. The drive to everglades was quite picturusque with some nice scenic views.
Everglades national parks is about 50 miles south of Miami and it took little over an hour to reach the area along 90W. There were several safaris in the area and we decided on one of them.
There were two kinds of rides - a boat ride in the swamps and a safari. We first boarded the boat ride. The waters were full of several crocodiles in the waters. Many came so close that you could actually touch them if you dared to! There were also several turtles in the water, often popping up.
Next we took a swamp buggy ride and it was a unique experience that I had never had. The buggy had tires that were almost 10-15 feet high and we were seated atop. The buggy rocked quite a lot as it moved through the swamps. As the buggy went deeper and deeper into the swamps, the forest grew thicker and thicker. It was an amazing experience wading through the swamps in the buggy. We saw a lot of animals in the forest. We saw deers, gaurs, several different kinds of birds and several different kinds of antelopes.
The last thing I expected here were Orstritch and they came quite close to our buggys.
