Aparna's First Birthday in Los Angeles

We decided to celebrate Aparna's birthday on the Santamonica beach. Amit Jain was with us in Vista Magnolia. So Ramya, Karthik, Amit, Aparna and I went to the 3rd street promenade.

We remained in the promenade until close to mid-night. we decided to the beach.

By midnight, all of us were sleepy and drained after a filling dinner at CPK. Then we proceeded to the beach where Sunset boulevard intersects Hwy 1 - one of our favorite hangouts in LA. We laid down the carrot cake and lit the candles. Aparna was absolutely delighted having this birthday party on the beach.

Aparna did not know that these candles were in fact magic candles that would light up again the moment they were blown off. We asked her to wish and blow all out the candles in one breath. She tried and did a good job too but the candles came back on immediately! She could not help laughing. After this we had the standard cake application ritual where the cake is applied on the birthday person's face.

Then we sat at the beach watching the moon's reflection on the ocean and chatting away until late in the night and then drove back.
