Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) was my favourite and most frequently visited drive while in the US. Later Aparna and I used to go on the PCH to San Simeon almost once every month and spend the night there. I had always heard how beautiful PCH was but had never been on it so far. So one friday I decided to drive up the PCH to the bay area and meet my friends from undergrad, Mani, Pankaj, Manish, Vinay etc. I started a bit late in the evening on Friday on 10 and then to 1N. I crossed SantaBarbara, sometime lateg in the evening. I had decided to cool my tires at San Louis Obispo for the night. While on 1 on my way to San Loius Obispo, I experienced the most eerie sensation, a completely black rear view mirror. The road behind me was pitch dark and my car was the only car on the road. Anyway it was around 10:00 P.M when I reached San Loius Obispo. I had some italian food here and slept at a motel.
In retrospect staying at San Loius Obispo was a great idea, since the rest of the drive on PCH through San Simon and Cambria is absolutely fantastic. I woke up and started off at 6:00 in the morning. The greenery, the mountains and long stretching road in front of me was amazing. Soon enough I was driving by the ocean crashing on the rocks and thousands of seagulls trying to catch a breakfast.
I stopped at various Vista points and caught some some self photographs. The seagulls are absilutely fearless and some actually approach you as if they want a photograph. I stopped at various locations watching the Sea Gulls and taking photographs whenever possible.
I also caught a rainbow while driving that landed straight in the ocean. Clearly the pot of gold had sunk deep. The drive alng San Simeon and Cambris was beautiful and this was nothing like I had ever seen before.
I stopped at several beaches along the way and spent some time getting into the water and watching the birds.
Upon reaching the Bay area I was heartily greeted by all my friends. I made my first Fulkas with Arun.
